The lineup is here:

Some complex subjects are on the Football Life list. Personally, I think they always do a good job on these. Even the ones I don't think I'll be interested in still reel me in.
Has anyone watched the "Timeline" series? I believe it premiered last December. I'm glad that they picked some subjects from the 70s and 80s for this years run.

Football Life is very good.
Lot of things they can still do that they haven't done yet.
They've done episodes on team units (1990s Cowboys offensive line, Rams Fearsome Foursome)- how about the Saints' Dome Patrol, Air Coryell, or the Vikings Purple People Eaters?
Individually- surprised they haven't done one on Buddy Ryan or some of those 1950s-1960s Colts

I watched them all, of course.
The Iran hostage crisis one was probably most interesting, to me. Since I wasn't alive then so I didn't 'live' it.
The Cowboys-49ers didn't have much anyone here wouldn't know. There was two parts to it.
The one on Favre, same thing, not much you wouldn't know but still liked watching it.
Same with the episode about the merger, all the same stories.
The one about New Jersey was interesting enough.
The Timeline didn't run very long, seemed like it was just on for a month. Definitely more episodes this season.

The Lombardi Redskins show should be interesting. There's probably plenty of younger football fans who would express surprise that he coached there, having been force-fed the Ice Bowl and the Packer dynasty stories for decades,

Not sure I'll watch Chad Johnson or Michael Vick, but they are generally very good. I am very looking forward to Chuck Noll, hope we get a look into all the greats he played and coaches under and not just 70's Steelers stuff.
Some cool topics I'd love to see them take on:
- Hornung and Karras in 63
- 51 Undefeated San Francisco Dons
- Gene Upshaw career and player rep
- The 34 defense

I see they're going to have a Football Life episode on Jim Brown. Aside from Frank Gifford, I think this is the first on a pre-Super Bowl player. A good choice would be one on Hornung and Taylor, Brown's contemporaries.
It would be nice to have shows on some pre-Super Bowl era players while they are still alive and able to be interviewed.

An overall disappointing lineup of A Football Life shows. Some good Timelines, though.

Those are some great suggestions. Funny how they focus more on more modern day players/coaches/contributors. I mean who has lived more of a "Football Life" than George Halas?
ESPN did a documentary on the San Fran Dons a few years ago. Here's the trailer and the IMDB post describing it.

There have been some REALLY bad A Football Life's.
-Walter Payton and Mike Ditka's stand out as absolute turds.
-Ed Sabol's and Steve Sabol's were extraordinary.
One's from this season I'm interested in seeing: Steve Young, Jim Brown, Troy Aikman, Chuck Knoll.
The Timeline's I enjoyed. The merger one was entertaining. I enjoyed the SF-Dallas two parter.
Ones this season I want to see:
Last Day in LA
0 and 26
1984 Comeback
Lombardi's Redskins
The Fog Bowl
