Top 12 NFL Power Rankings, 2006

Post by 74_75_78_79_ »

I guess Denver, the only above-500 non-playoff team, supplants 8-8 Giants, right? Or do one of the other 8-8s do it instead? Or do G-men simply stay put in these rankings? Are Marty's 14-2 Chargers #1? Or do Ravens get the nod because they beat them albeit early in the year? Guess Champ-to-be Indy don't rank all too high thanks to their run-D taking a massive dump down the stretch. Where do Grossman's Bears end up?

1) Ravens
2) Chargers
3) Patriots
4) Bears
5) Colts
6) Saints
7) Eagles
8) Jets
9) Chiefs
10) Jaguars - yes, 0-3 finish but 5 wins vs playoff teams
11) Broncos
12) Seahawks

Yes, Seahawks won at Denver Week #13 but only other win vs a playoff team was 8-8 G-men. Denver, on the other hand, beat KC, Pats, and Ravens while barely losing to Colts. FWIW beat Steelers convincing-enough at Heinz while helping to knock Bengals out penultimate week. Speaking of...can't put my Steelers in. 6-2 finish but get destroyed both times vs Ravens. Cincy 0-3 finish just like Jags, and did at least split w Ravens, but comes up just short body-of-work-wise.
