Joe Scibelli (Los Angeles Rams)

Post by Halas Hall »

Does anyone have memories of offensive guard Joe Scibelli with the Los Angeles Rams?

To me he seems like a very overlooked player. He played fifteen years (!) with the Rams against some tough customers, ten of which as a team captain and five times named the Rams' most valuable offensive lineman with one All-Pro selection in 1973. He unfortunately passed away in 1991.

Thank you.

As Jerry Kramer said in one of his books, "If someone is on the lam from the law, he should be an offensive lineman in the NFL." Point being that about the only time an offensive lineman gets any recognition is when he gets caught holding.

I think you are right about Scibelli. He was a good one.

Bill Curry said he had worst breath in NFL

He was decent, not athletic player. Short, quick, not not strong and not a great puller, like Tom Mack. Was not very good at first, worked hard became above average.
