The WNY Chapter of the PFRA met on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Hamburg NY. A total of twelve people attended the meeting, seven PFRA members and 5 guests. The members attending were: Chris Babcock, Ken Crippen, Adam Dawson, Bert Gambini, Jeff Miller, Greg Tranter and John Steffenhagen. We were honored to have PFRA President Crippen in attendance, and he provided an update on association activities and a great talk on the Scouting Report project he is working on with Matt Reaser. Ed Rutkowski, the former Buffalo Bill and current President of the team's alumni association, spoke about the activities of the alumni and shared some great stories from the Bills' glory days. Michael Haim, the Bills' chief statistician, provided some insight on the stat and record keeping process, and some comical behind-the-scenes stories that had the group in stitches. John Steffenhagen, the great-grandson of NFL co-founder Leo Lyons, brought along some awesome (literally) pieces from his collection of Jeffersons artifacts and provided some background one of the original NFL franchises. Greg Tranter, Buffalo Bills super-collector and board member of the Buffalo History Museum, brought along several rare items from his collection and spoke about his collecting experiences.
The meeting was scheduled to go from 2:00 till 5:00, but most attendees stayed until past 7:00 to discuss football minutiae and network with like-minded people. Many business cards and phone numbers were traded.
A splendid time was indeed had by all!
