Dan Devine's Broken Leg

Hey Guys,
We all know that Green Bay head coach Dan Devine had his leg broken in the 1971 opener against the NY Giants. Does anyone know if any head coach in NFL History prior to Devine's accident has ever had to be taken off the field on a stretcher (for any reason)? How about after 1971? Thanks for any info that you can provide.

Sean Payton suffered a broken leg and torn MCL after a sideline collision about 5 years ago. I don't know for sure if he was taken off on a stretcher. More likely a cart.
Gary Kubiak collapsed while leaving the field at halftime a few seasons ago. He was taken off on a stretcher.
It's not the NFL, but Joe Paterno was taken off on a cart after suffering a broken leg against Wisconsin.

During the 11/24/63 Cardinals-Giants game at Yankee Stadium, Giants' assistant coach Ed Kolman suffered a mild heart attack during halftime and was hospitalized.

That 1971 Green Bay Giants game was one of the most bizarre games of the past 50 years - I would put it right up there with the 1984 Rams Giants regular season game as number one and two. Between the broken leg, there were the two fumbles by Dave Hampton that were returned for TD's on consecutive plays, but Hampton had a couple long kick returns in the game to redeem his spot on the roster. Ken Ellis also had a coast to coast kickoff return TD, and Tarkenton threw four TD's. How can you not like a game where the losing team scores 40 points?

How can you not like a game where John Spilis set a career high in receiving yards?!?
The next time the Packers scored 40, it would again be against the Giants - in 1975. Better luck for coach Starr and the Packers, with a 40-14 victory in that game.
