1972 Packers Preseason

Post by JoeZagorski »

Hi Guys!
I need some info on the 1972 Packers and their preseason. What was their preseason record in 1972? Who did they play? Who did they beat? Thanks for responding with the answers.

Sincerely,

Special teams blunders played a major role in both of the preseason losses:

The 20-3 loss to the Oilers began with Houston running the opening kickoff back 78 yards, resulting in a FG. On the ensuing kickoff, they caught GB napping with an onside kick that resulted in a touchdown. It took until the 10-minute mark of the second quarter before the Packers even got a first down.

The 31-10 loss to the Cardinals: two fumbled punts by rookie Bob Hudson, a low trajectory punt and a low center snap--which resulted in 24 points for St. Louis.
