5 years, 4 All-Pro, 3 Def MVP---if something awful, like with Sayers happens is he in?

I say yes.

No doubt. They can make his bust now and store it away in the vault for his induction.

Agreed. If they're ever going to do a Gale Sayers HoF exception for a defensive player, it would be for someone with Watt's extraordinary level of accomplishment.

The only things that can keep him out of Canton are if he pulls either a Pete Rose or an OJ.

What about PEDs? Would that keep him out? Not saying he does, but with Clemens and Bonds it's killing them.

My guess is that the voters won't care about this since there is no "character clause" like in baseball. If Ray Lewis and Kevin Williams don't get in, that'll be a sign that PEDs matter. But I expect Lewis will sail in first ballot and Williams goes in after a few years wait.

And it's possible that the BBHoF voters are rightly starting to ignore PED issues with baseball players, at least for those who may or may not have used pre-2005. Mike Piazza and Jeff Bagwell, who have been the subject of (likely questionable) whisper campaigns, were respectively elected and on the cusp of being voted in. Both Bonds and Clemens have six more eligible years left and may yet make it in -- especially since their PED related trials ultimately ended up in acquittals, and there's a perception that they were HoFers before they may have started using. But we shall see.

Agreed.

Mental Exercise (and completely for sillyness's sake):
If Peyton loses another Super Bowl and Eli wins one and Peyton snaps and strangles Eli... does Peyton still get into Canton?

...only if he does it in an elevator and the film is "inconclusive."
