Jets beat Cards in Week #8 of the '78 season (dropping Cards to 0-8); both teams wouldn't play each other again until '96 when the...0-8 Jets would win again. What other examples are there of two teams going quite a long time between meeting again?

I have -

20 years - Chiefs vs. Eagles - 10/22/1972 - 10/11/92
18 years - Cards vs. Jets, already noted
17.8 years - Dolphins vs. Giants - 12/10/1972 - 9/23/90
17.1 years - Seahawks vs. Bucs - 10/16/77 - 11/20/94
13.9 years - Colts vs. 49ers - 11/12/72 - 10/5/1986

Six more matchups of 13-ish years....

Didn't spot check.

For road games, the Browns played one road game (1983) against the Packers in 34 years (1967-01). Perhaps even more oddly, their first regular season game in Green Bay came in that 2001 game--every other contest during the season was played in Milwaukee.

It took 16 years for the Lions to return to Cleveland, spanning games in 1970 and 1986.

Vikings went 32 years between road games at Colts (two cities involved)...Jets 28 years between road games at Dallas...Giants 27 years between road games at Colts.

I've always want to know the reverse side of it, which two non-division teams played the most consecutive seasons since the 1970 merger. I would think Raiders-Steelers, Cowboys-Rams, Colts-Patriots (this last one since 2002) as the longest, but I know I miss many.

25 years (1979-2004) between appearances for the Green Bay Packers in Washington D.C.

I don't know if it's the longest current active streak but the Bills & Chiefs have played each other every year since 2008.

In 2009, Tampa Bay played at Buffalo for the first and so far only time. It was the ninth meeting between them, and all previous eight had been in Tampa.

Every year from 1970 through 1993 the Steelers played either Kansas City, Denver, or both.

Atlanta and Detroit played each other for eight consecutive seasons (1983-1990). Before that, they had played each other six seasons from 1975-1980.
