State law mandates Minnesota Supreme Court justices retire at 70. Nice write up about him:

I write about the law business in Minnesota and have written before about the mandatory retirement age for judges at the appellate and Supreme Court level. Most of them hate it.

Alan Page's annual tuba playing for runners during the Twin Cities Marathon is one of the coolest things I've ever heard a HOF football player do.

He just stands there in the street, near his home, playing his tuba for the runners.

I'm sure to the locals it's become sort of expected as I understand he does this every year, but for those of us who really admire the incredible awesomeness of true top-shelf HOFers like this man, to say nothing of his remarkable post-football career, to see him just out among the people and actually lending his musical skills to encourage the marathoners -- well, that's just really, really good stuff!

That's the kind of thing that one would expect Jim Marshall to do!

Yes, but Marshall would be going in the other direction....

Perhaps we should recruit a new researcher into the fold?

I believe Page was the first active NFL player to have run a marathon. I ran five from 2001-2007, so I know it's quite an accomplishment.

As a player, I truly like the last years of his career with the Bears. His weight was below 230 pounds, yet he still got some all-NFC accolades.

I think the weight was the reason that the Vikes dumped him--with the Bears right there to scoop him up.
