In reading about the Eagles-Redskins game in Washington that day, the most memorable aspect was probably the anecdote from some of the players about hearing the PA guy announce over and over that an attendee (since plenty of army and navy officials were at the game) should report immediately to his office.

Also, at the Brooklyn-NY Giants game, it was Tuffy Leemans Day. Obviously, nobody cared about that the next day, but at least Leemans received the accolades, which is more than Ray Renfro can say. He was retiring after the '63 season and was supposed to be honored at the November 24 Cowboys-Browns game. The JFK assassination put an end to that, and since it was the final home game of the season, I don't believe it was ever rescheduled.
