Allen apparently turned down a new 4-year, 1 million dollar deal, and then was dismissed.
An addendum to this: If Allen would have accepted this deal (I am guessing it was in early 1978), history would have been different. The Rams were on the verge of making Walsh their HC when Allen was let go in Washington.
Despite poor recommendations from GM Don Klosterman (as well as Carroll's son), Carroll Rosenbloom hired Allen over Walsh because he beat Dallas, and that's what he liked about him. It may have been the biggest mistake in Rams history.

Aside from any "could've, should've"s about the Packers, here are the ones I'd love to have seen...
1987 NFC Championship Game - #4 New Orleans Saints (12-3) at #1 San Francisco 49ers (13-2)
The best two teams in the league in 1987 both got knocked out by an 8-7 Minnesota team. That would have been a heck of a showdown. Imagine either New Orleans winning its first Super Bowl or San Francisco winning three Super Bowls in a row.
1994 Super Bowl XXIX - San Francisco vs. Pittsburgh
The two #1 seeds and the battle to be the first team with five Super Bowl wins.
1985 Super Bowl XX - Chicago vs. Miami
A very common one, I'm sure.
1986 Super Bowl XXI - Giants vs. Jets
If the Jets stay healthy, this could have actually happened.
1990 Super Bowl XXV - San Francisco vs. Buffalo
"There will be no three-peat!"

Would have been interesting to see a healthy Young/49ers or Cunningham/Eagles against the 91 Redskins in those playoffs, I think they take both of those teams even healthy that season but would have been better games than Falcons/Lions we got. A 3rd Eagles/Redskins game in 91 that defense against that o-line in a rubber match with Philly having their QB would have been interesting.
92 I kinda wanted to see Miami vs Dallas that year going into the conference championship games. I will always remember the frustration and disappointment in Dan after that loss to Buffalo. They had them at home in Miami in the AFCCG, just beat a really tough San Diego team like 31-0 in the divisional round, Buffalo was all injured and hobbled through the playoffs as a wild card. Marino and Shula on the sidelines together during garbage time of the San Diego playoff game really had that look in their eyes like they had it. It was also Marino's last season with Duper and Clayton and they knew it. Bruce Smith tore him up and they choked a return to the Super Bowl away. Marino in the Rose Bowl vs Dallas could have been good. Or Marino/Dolphins vs Young/49ers 14-2 team that would have been something.
Houston vs Dallas in the 93 Super Bowl would top my list for this.
I was rooting for Cleveland in the 94 playoffs had they been able to get past Pittsburgh they were a really good team that year. Cleveland vs San Diego in the 94 AFCCG sounds good, Browns vs 49ers Super Bowl.
I was rooting for Vikings vs Raiders Super Bowl going into the 2000 playoffs, did not get the Super Bowl that I wanted at all.
2001 playoffs I was really excited for, I wanted to see 2 matchups all season long in the NFL that year and it felt like it was all building up to those 4 squaring off in the conference title games, Steelers vs Raiders in the AFC and Rams vs Bears in the NFC. I wanted to see those games bad, and Eagles and Patriots screwed that all up for me.
I was really invested and into the 2005 Redskins playoff run, that was a team I really enjoyed watching. It felt like they had a real chance to beat Seattle in Seattle in that divisional playoff game at one point during the game, but Seahawks ran away with it that Skins team was just out of gas(they had to win last 5 games to get in the playoffs). But had they pulled it off we got Washington at Carolina for 2005 NFCCG, would have been really cool to see them vs Pittsburgh in that Super Bowl. Not a big fan of Seattle being in the NFC so any Super Bowl they were in was just as awkward to me as seeing Unitas in a Chargers uniform.
