My question though is why don’t those defensive holes get exposed in the regular season? Like what did they do differently in December compared to January?
I don't know. The Steelers are the same way. The Steelers are more of a defensive team, less high scoring than the Packers but the defense has been better. But in the playoffs the defense is the side that shows the big decline, the offense is more stable.

I suppose it's that defense is more reactive. Unless you're the 1985 Bears most defenses don't dictate the game. They wait until someone exploits flaws, then they fix them. Whereas offense it's more obvious when things aren't working and the corrections are more immediate.

I don't know, it's all just spitballing by me at this level, but I'm just looking at the stats and the point levels and both teams have tended towards mediocrity because the defense doesn't hold its end up more often than not.
