The NFL has been an unwatchable waste of time outside of those 2 outliers

Brady and Mahomes quite frankly have made me hate the NFL

Hell yes

Watching Mahomes always come through is about as exciting as watching paint dry

It's joyless, there's no suspense

Rooting for Mahomes is like rooting for the house in blackjack

Sometimes effective isn’t exactly exciting. I’ve seen lots of people call Tom Brady’s game bland because it often was labeled “dink and dunk” (I presume that means going for the first down in general?)

Out of curiosity, what about Nick Foles and Matthew Stafford’s games do you enjoy watching since they were singled out as exceptions?

Because those SB's were so unexpected

Foles replace an MVP candidate

Stafford was genuinely written off as the guy who would never win......... and he did

Mahomes? Basically has had everything giftwrapped on a silver platter (weak division, offense friendly rules)

To clarify what I just asked: I could totally see why those Super Bowls would have been more compelling games. Especially the one Foles won.

I meant to ask if there was something about the way those two play quarterback specifically that you like.

The only thing I might disagree with as far as what you listed for Mahomes goes is offense friendly rules. Rules have obviously tilted in favor of offense don’t get me wrong, but since we have mentioned and are comparing three players from roughly the same era to one another, it’s not like one played before quarterback safety rules were a thing and another didn’t.

Unless you were referring to something else?

If Mahomes played in pre-2004 offense friendly rule changes, he's basically no better than David Carr.

Remember when TB basically flattendd him in that SB? That would have been basically every week in the 90s-early 2000s

Hate to sound like a bitter Jets fan but...I mean this exact same thing was happening with Brady/Belichick and Patriot officials from 2001 onward. When they needed help Brady could just chuck it 5 yards out of bounds at the one yard line and the PI flags would come flying because a CB put a fingernail on a Patriots receiver. First and goal NE at the 1. When they needed Brady to make a heroic march up the field any New England offensive lineman was free to drag down any defensive player that got within 3 yards of Brady

Honestly what I'm seeing now is nowhere near as bad as it used to be when it was New England. The Chiefs are tolerable. Mahomes and Reid are so much better than what it used to be

The crazy thing is the Chiefs getting over 30 points with Pacheco getting 7 touches for 24 yards! Hunt plods along but Mahomes gets the ball to everybody, which shows Reid can still call the right plays to be successful.

On defense, Bolton continues to set the tone and make big plays when needed against the run. The Eagles have to take him away in the SB. He had a big game the last time.

Well, that wasn't Brady beating him, that was the Buccaneer defense. His offensive line was at it's worst in 2020, and it showed in the Super Bowl (although some believe that it was fixed for TB because of Brady, and because of the fact that Andy Reid's son hit a little girl in a drunk driving incident right before the game).

I do agree with you on Mahomes and the pre-04 rule changes, though. He is a product of the modern NFL (Brady was, too, to a large degree. So was Brees). Also, this Chiefs team from the last seven years wouldn't stack up well against the all-time greats. I don't hate them with a passion, but I don't take them seriously because it seems to me that the NFL favors them like they did Brady. This modern game is watered down.
