At least to a certain extent, Darnold lived up to his draft status for one season and the pressure of these last two games had to overwhelm him. Losing hurts, but he has to feel keyed up for what might have been, and I feel he will try to come back to the team.
If the Vikes bring him back and he can harness his emotions more, the team can possibly, be successful next year.

Darnold usually plays frazzled in big spots dating back to his Jets days when they faced the Patriots. He was sloppy in the regular season finale and it continued last night. Inaccurate passing, jittery actions, slow decision-making, too many sacks.

I did not expect much from him against the Rams defense. I had felt strongly about the Ravens, Bills, and Rams winning in the Wild Card Round. I picked the Eagles to win but was not ultra confident about that one as I was with the other three. I was wrong about the Chargers and Buccaneers winning. One guy in my office pool went 5-1 (had the Rams game wrong). I was tied for second at 4-2.

It sure was a nice win for Houston but their season should end on Saturday in Kansas City.

Justin Herbert is going to get a lot of rips from fans and the media till he gets back to the postseason and performs better. "John Elway can't win the big one", "Peyton Manning is a regular season quarterback; he can't win in the playoffs", "Kirk Cousins puts up stats but can't win in the playoffs." Herbert is going to have that type of stuff said about him now till he makes people have to stop saying it.

The Commanders beat the Buccaneers by playing aggressively against a team with a passive head coach. Sometimes aggressiveness doesn't work but here it did. Going for it multiple times on 4th down and instilling an aggressive mindset in the team was key from Dan Quinn. Or at least that is how I saw it. I thought, in the moment, that the Buccaneers should have gone for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal to tie the game at 20. The field goal decision by the Buccaneers had "ensuing long drive by Washington with the game ending with a Washington score in the waning moments" written all over it.

Commanders kept it going, JWL ... huge win and my prediction of Lions-Steelers SB before the season, bit the dust. If Detroit loses their coordinators, will they meet expectations next year?

Not saying he won't get a job, but Glenn is going to have a bit of a tougher interview process with some teams having to explain the collapse of last night.

I don't know about that. Dan Quinn got spanked pretty rotten in the playoffs last year and that didn't stop him from getting a head coaching spot and doing well with it.

At least better games this week, with the Lions-Commanders game the only basketball score. Went 3-1 and hope for great championship games next week.

Championship Picks

Commanders
Bills

Upset weekend!

The Lions last year and this year...I mean really had that elusive Super Bowl trip in their grasp. Blowing the game vs San Fran and then this year...the best team they've had in ages and laying an egg at home vs the Redskins. And yes the defense was really beaten up injury wise...but you have to do better than that

The window of opportunity for them is still open but...who knows how things will break for them next season? Or if they'll ever get as close or have as good a team as they had the past two seasons.

After losing this playoff game, I am even more upset over the two passed FG attempts the Lions had in last year's NFC Championship game. I felt Campbell outsmarted himself and this year, the team wasnt ready for, or overlooked the Commanders. Now both coordinators are gone--though Glenn hasnt signed with the Jets yet--who knows where this team is heading, though it will be a plum job for new assistants?

Coen could have gotten the head job in Jax but who wants to work with Baalke, the Dan Snyder of general managers?
Coen will have an even more potent offense with the Bucs next year and possibly take over for Bowles? I think Kingsbury will get the Jax job after the SB.

Wouldnt surprise me at all if Jones Inc, goes for Brian Shitty over Kellen Moore as HC. Could the Raiders buy out Belichick from UNC?

I know I am off the main subject but these coaching hires are getting trippy. Coen gets the Jax job once Baalke is out. Carroll gets the Raiders job despite being 74 yrs young. I felt the Seattle players tuned him out his last few years, will the Raiders? Hard to fathom he getting another chance before Belichick. Slowik is out in Houston as offensive coordinator. Why? He lost three receivers for long stretches of the season, while the offensive line struggled. Could he still be in play for a head coaching job? Its not often a coach helps a rookie QB become ROTY then lose his job the following season. Could Carroll or Glenn snatch him up?
Jones should consider him over Brian Schotty ...

Will McCarthy get the job in Nawlins?

I'm not worried about the Lions. Campbell has been preparing to lose both coordinators for a year. They're a young team, plenty of talent, GM Holmes is in synch with Campbell.

Campbell and Holmes have both said they don't believe in "windows." I feel the same. The culture has changed so much here it's unbelievable.

Patience, grasshoppers.....
