Crazy shootout definitely, with the Rams win. Without the 5 turnovers, the Chiefs probably easily win. Both teams were rolling at the time. Though it was a tale of two halves, I was ecstatic over the Cowboys comeback win over the Redskins on MNF to start the 1983 season. Though he was misunderstood with his comments, Howard Cosell probably needed to lay off the booze before referring to Redskins receiver Alvin Garrett as a little monkey ... haha

One that sticks out in my memory and hasn't been mentioned was Dolphins-Raiders, 12-2-84. MVP-to-be Marino vs. the defending champs.
The fun started with a 97-yard TD interception return by Mike Haynes. The lead changed hands four more times, culminating in a four-TD fourth quarter. Mark Duper got Miami within four points, but then Marcus Allen put the game away with a 52-yard sprint. Final, 45-34 Raiders. I was a fan of neither team, but I sat rapt the entire game.

I remember that game too, Citizen, like Fouts and SD, Marino and the Dolphins were involved in alot of shootouts that fans relished.
This loss was due for Miami and the Raiders got good pressure on Marino that didnt happen again till the SB.
The Vikings had their chances last night but the much maligned Lions defense shut them down. O'Connell will be COTY but his team wasnt ready for primetime. Where were Addison and Hockenson? Even Mr All-Pro, Jefferson was quiet with the game still tight? I still dont believe the team ran enough and couldnt stop the run either ...

12/16/79 Washington Redskins (10-5) at Dallas Cowboys (10-5)
The game had wild swings. The Redskins led 17-0. Then the Cowboys led 21-17. Then the Redskins led 34-21. Then the Cowboys won 35-34.
Had the Redskins won the game they would have been the 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. Because they lost the game they did not make the playoffs at all.

Man, last night's game certainly was not one of these. Truly one of the regular season games of all time.

That was the game that should have been in Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, but due to the very bad field condition, the game was moved at the last time to the ;Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.JameisBrownston wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 5:01 pm The obvious answer is 2018 Rams-Chiefs on MNF. That game had everything you could ask for. Like 7 lead changes, and the best defensive performance ever in a shootout (Rams). Only overtime would've made it better.

First one that comes to mind is Giants/49ers MNF in the early 90s. I think both teams might have been 10-1 or something like that going into the game. I'd have to look up the specifics.
Cowboys/Oilers Thanksgiving 1979 was another really good one. And of course Miami at Houston MNF in 1978.
