Re: Russell Wilson To Denver
Looking back at that 2014/15 SB, its still hard to believe the Legion Of Boom gave up four TD passes to Tom Brady ... Maybe injuries really affected that secondary. Of course its fitting that one of their former members, Brandon Browner, helped stop Seattle on that game ending interception by Butler.
Wilson's pass was high but if his receiver Lockette, would have went after the ball more aggressively, would have scored or at least prevented the turnover, IMO. Had Seattle won, a role player, WR Chris Matthews, might have gotten MVP consideration ...

Hard to say. As a Packers fan, having the Hawks blow the SB was somewhat satisfying. The Seahawks had the best D and did play well in that conference championship game. They were effective against Lacy and Rodgers really didn't have that good a game, just better than Wilson did, which wasn't hard. Seahawks D kept the game close as it was.Zero26 wrote:When people talk about the Seahawks not running it in super bowl 49 I feel it's forgotten how lucky the Seahawks were to even be in the Super Bowl again. I wonder if the Seahawks would have been better off if they hadn't recovered that onside kick against the Packers.
Never seen a longer line of contagious misfortune in a playoffs. Lions-Cowboys, Cowboys-Packers, Packers-Seahawks and finally Seahawks-Patriots.
I feel they could have gotten more for Wilson but maybe not gutting his new team is their way of saying thank you. It's hard to tell because you don't know what starters the Bears offered but I think that deal was probably better. Seahawks went the Rams route the last few years and have nothing to show for it so getting as many picks back for Wilson was important. I think the Broncos won this trade they got a HOF QB for about 5-10 years without giving away any of their core players. Seahawks lost a HOF QB and are probably going to end up spending a lot of this bounty on a replacement who isn't as good. They needed to trade Wilson when he still had time left on his contract but Brady and Stafford winning superbowls in 1 year should have sent the price higher.
I think the Packers matched up better against the Pats which is why they beat them in the regular season. Packers offense was more diversified. Pats could not run the ball at all but were willing to scheme and throw it all day against the Seahawks.

And the dominoes keep falling with Trubisky now a Steeler and Brady back with TB, unless a future trade is in the works. Hard to believe the Giants didnt go for Biscuit and let Jones walk. Watson could be the next to go, if not Mariota.

I've always felt that the Seahawks "outsmarted" themselves after the crazy Kearse catch. It was early in the 4 downs (I don't remember if it was first or second down) and there was plenty of time left to go: just run the ball and see what happens! 'Course, the Seahawks went a different direction and the rest is history. Here's what I think: I think Coach Carroll elected to not run the ball because of what happened on 4th and short for him and LenDale White in that Rose Bowl loss to Texas. I guess we'll never know for sure but it's pretty clear that the team has fallen off, considerably, in the ensuing 7 years and I think the team could stand some change at the top.Zero26 wrote:When people talk about the Seahawks not running it in super bowl 49

It appears that R.W. was looking at many different teams to escape his situation in SEA: https://sports.yahoo.com/russell-wilson ... 19340.html
Re: Russell Wilson To Denver
One of the Seahawks' better D-linemen (I wanna say Michael Bennett) got hurt early in the 4th or late in the 3rd so maybe that had something to do with it. Obviously the Seahawks aren't the only team to have fallen victim to the "sorcery" of Tom Brady in a S.B. but that loss still hurts. I'd've almost preferred a beat-down (such as the one that the Seahawks gave DEN the previous year) than a close game like that where we'll forever be asking: "What if?"Brian wolf wrote:Looking back at that 2014/15 SB, its still hard to believe the Legion Of Boom gave up four TD passes to Tom Brady

I believe it was Cliff Avril that went down in the second half of that SB. He was the only one who put on a consistent rush. Lynch probably should have gotten the ball but he did a good job as a decoy but Baldwin and Lockette didnt do their jobs good enough on the pass play. Could the team go for Watson or try to draft a successor ?

With Watson going to the Browns, Mayfield could be in play with Indy or Seattle. The Texans still need a veteran QB but may stick with Mills over Mariota, Winston or Ryan, though Ryan should stay put with Atlanta. The Browns need to check their pants after todays events ... Yuck

And the QB, gun-for-hire process continues with Ryan now with the Colts, Winston back with the Saints and Mariota trying to revive his career with the Falcons. Mayfield could latch on to Seattle or Carolina but WHAT IF he replaced Goff in Detroit and next year the Lions could play the Browns and Watson in the SB ?
Nahhhhhh !
