Gale Sayers won the NFL rushing title that year and didn't have a run longer than 28 yards, perhaps another record for a 1,000-yard rusher? Bears lost 5 games by less than 6 points, so they have a claim as one of the better 1-win NFL clubs.
Mark Van Eeghen had three 1000+ yard seasons during his career with longest gains of 21, 27, and 34 yards respectively. He never put up a longer run than the 34 yard one in his 10-year career.
