My Bears list. As far as I am aware, all of these players were on the roster for a Regular Season or Post Season game and were either Inactive or Active but Did Not Play.

There are additional players (e.g. Avellini in 1980) that were on the roster but did not appear in a game during a particular season, but did in others.

Additional research may be required on a few of those listed and there are a number of others (mostly in the 1920s) that require more information before including on the list.

Seems as though I just read about that somewhere .... think, think, think.

The Packers signed Mann two days before that game, after he had been released by the Lions.

During that game, an injured Fred Steinfort had two extra points blocked by Fred Carr, and Ray Guy shanked a third PAT try.

Who do you think the Raiders picked up the following week to replace Steinfort? Errol Mann, whom the Packers had cut.
We really need a "Like" button on this forum. Great story.

What made me ask this originally, I am putting together participation charts for the seasons of 1970 & 1971. The proliferation of QBs I understand, since rosters were at 40 and teams only carried two QBs lest one get dinged up, then they would add one eg. Buddy Lee. Anyone ever heard of Eric Stolberg or Max Anderson? They were both active in 1971, Anderson for Buffalo, week 1, Stolberg for New England, week 7. I appreciate everyone's contributions on this. Also, if anyone knows who the three players the Giants activated that never played in the game, week 14 1971 it may cure my headache :D

I know that Skip Butler was activated for that game and did play. Jerry Shay and Ed Baker were activated but did not play.

As you probably know, Spider Lockhart, Rich Houston, Doug Van Horn, Bobby Duhon, and Junior Coffey were injured the prior week. Charlie Evans, Ron Johnson, Coleman Zeno, and Bennie McRae had been injured and deactivated in prior weeks.

The gamebook for that week only lists 38 players for the Giants. Is it possible that the Giants were only allowed 47 players between those active and those injured and not released, and couldn't have added any players for the game without releasing others?

Max Anderson played at Arizona State and was the Buffalo Bills leading rusher in 1968. The next year the Bills drafted one O.J. Simpson. Anderson started one game in 1969 when Simpson was injured. He did fairly well and the Bills beat the Patriots. I believe Anderson was injured during 1970 preseason.
