Not least among the "numerous issues" will be the off-field hijinks the players will get into being based in Las Vegas. Goodell is going to be very busy.Reaser wrote:Somewhat relevant. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -be-fined/
NFL players take part in arm wrestling event. Will be fined because it took place inside a casino which is a violation of the gambling-policy.
Kind of funny. They're fine relocating a team to Las Vegas but things like this are a problem? Can only imagine once players are living/playing there full time the sort of issues that can/will come up.
With the rule being that "league personnel are prohibited from making promotional appearances at casinos or other gambling-related establishments" couldn't anytime a future LV Raiders player steps inside a casino - regardless of what he's doing once inside - be considered a "promotional appearance"?
They're probably going to have to re-write and come up with an entire new set of regulations because it's against the rules to make a "public appearance" that "publicizes a casino". So one has to wonder, isn't anytime an athlete goes somewhere a "public appearance" and for whatever casino they happen to enter, would that not "publicize" that casino?
And what if a fan asks for an autograph but they're inside a casino?
There's a lot of other issues, also. I haven't read the "NFL player policy" in a couple years but I remember that players are not allowed either in or near a "sports book" during the season. But if you're walking through a casino you'll eventually walk by or through the "sports book". That's easy to avoid if you're playing in New York but if you're playing for a team in Las Vegas I imagine you'll eventually go inside a casino during the season and eventually/accidentally walk near the sports book.
Not news to anyone that it's ridiculously predictably that there's going to be numerous issues once the Raiders are in Las Vegas.

It might be wise for the Raiders to acquire and keep players (and coaches) who are more mature and otherwise less likely to fall for the temptations of Sin City.

Connecting the Raiders and family men has to be causing Al Davis to roll over in his grave.JuggernautJ wrote:It might be wise for the Raiders to acquire and keep players (and coaches) who are more mature and otherwise less likely to fall for the temptations of Sin City.

I had thought a lot of this issue about money. Not a new stadium in Oakland in over 50 years. Any possibility the NFL or Raiders return to Oakland?

Well, Lambeau Field is one of the legendary venues in football. It has been upgraded and renovated since it was built. OAC Coliseum was built to give the Raiders a decent stadium to compete with San Francisco. It is not on the same level as Lambeau or other venues around the league akin to it.rhickok1109 wrote:There hasn't been a new stadium in Green Bay in 60 yearssluggermatt15 wrote:I had thought a lot of this issue about money.
