Who is the GM? Who is the player?
The GM is Ernie Accorsi, the player is Brian Brennan. In another self-serving "sanctity of the game" moves by Accorsi, the GM convinces a group of veteran Browns players to cross the picket line during the 1987 strike and play in the last replacement game. Gary Danielson and Brian Brennan are having their way with the replacement Bengals defense, and the Browns lead 24-0 at half. Brennan has 10 catches for 139 yards and a TD. Afraid that Brennan will break the Browns single-game receiving records in catches and yards, Accorsi goes down to the field at the start of the 2nd half and orders Marty Schottenheimer to sit Brennan for the rest of the game.

New trivia...
Name the player: I was a mid-round draft pick who was brought in to replace a HOF player in the starting lineup. I was named to the All-Rookie team, but after my rookie year I was sent to a new team as part of a trade. On my new team, I was stuck playing behind the HOF player that I had replaced on my previous team. Who am I?

In the 1987 strike I remember Steve Largent destroying the replacement Lions at the Silverdome, and he was also pulled of the game early. He could have broken there the single game receiving yardage mark in a game.

Largent pulled himself out of that game after his fifteenth so he wouldn't break the single-game record (18 at the time).

Speaking of Largent, the NFL Network is supposed to have A Football Life episode on him this year.

What is the only time in NFL history that the same two teams squared off against each other for THREE consecutive weeks? Name the teams and the year.

1943 Redskins-Giants - great games to watch.

Yes, that is correct. The Giants swept the Redskins in the last two weeks of the regular season to force the playoff, but were shut out 28-0 in the money game.

Providing the answer, its Billy Parks. Replaced Lance Alworth on the Chargers in 1971 and made the all-rookie team. Dealt to the Cowboys in 1972 and sat on the bench behind Lance Alworth.
Name the team: in a 3-year span, this team won 37 regular season games and outscored their postseason opponents 181-97.

It's a pro football trivia question, but somewhat off the wall.... What are the only two letters of the alphabet that are not on any NFL helmet?
