Especially since Hadl never faced the Patriots during his season-and-a-half with the Packers. I wondered why they felt compelled to paint over the other team's uniforms in addition to Hadl's Rams uniform.

Johnny Unitas's "crazy eyes" card is so bad it's good.
Actually, the Packers hosted the Patriots in a preseason game on August 30, 1975 at Milwaukee, and Hadl had 105 yards passing. A lot of game card photos are taken in the summer during games that don't count, particularly if it's a guy who wasn't on the team the previous summer.

Any card that had the name "Dick Shiner" printed on it.

If - as a kid - you ever painted a model using Q-Tips instead of a brush, that is what the card airbrushing in the '70s looked like to me.

I have never checked, but hope that there is a "'70s football card" filter in PhotoShop.

Getting into this late but that Hadl card has so much wrong with it it's hilarious. The reasoning for the air brushed ref into an Patriots uni was to cover up the Rams player standing behind him. I always wondered why they picked #5 for the airbrushed ref? Maybe the "artist" ( probably a Topps exectutives 6 yr old kid) was a Harmon Wages fans.

What was wrong with showing the player with his old uniform but with a new team. If I recall correctly Dick Westmoreland's 1970 card showed him in a Dolphins uni but he is a Viking on the card.

I'm assuming it's either a case of low budget or just being lazy, but the 1969 card of Bill Nelsen has him in a Steelers jersey--even though there were plenty of opportunities to grab a photo of him with the Browns from 1968:

Also, 1965 Philadelphia set has Dick Modzelewski in a Giants uniform, even though Little Mo was part of the 1964 Browns title team:

There is a Torry Holt card (2010 Topps, I think; cannot find a photo online) that shows him in game action wearing a Patriots uniform in a Titans vs Jaguars game.

Something interesting that occurred in the CFL Topps cards of the 60's is that the Calgary Stampeders always had a green-colored uniform in the cards (for the record, the Stampeders always wore red unis):

I think Joe Kapp had the record for oldest recycled photo. The photo for his 1960 CFL card was still being used in Topps' 1969 card, albeit with the Venus de Milo cropping:

In the 1963 & 1964 Topps CFL sets, the Saskatchewan Roughriders were shown with red uniforms, even though the Roughrider colors had been green & white since 1948. Perhaps they were just too lazy to research, or maybe they just didn't think anyone would really care that much ... probably Topps' biggest all-time CFL card blunder was the Saskatchewan Roughriders team photo card that was used in their 1961, 1962, 1963 & 1964 CFL sets. The photo used was actually a team shot of the 1959 Cleveland Browns:

I've always have heard the profesional football can change a person. Garland Boyette who started his career in St. Louis and finished it in Houston, is living proof.
