even with new set of 25 (+3) voters, 25 of whom served on previous committee, it is a far "younger" panel of writers most of whom have covered game since 1990s or more recently, and none are historians-expecting them to support any scout or GM type from pre 1990 - over a player on same ballot-is likely a bridge too far

You are correct. Scouts have no shot with this committee. Even GMs have a tough road. I would not be surprised if the Hall merges the subcommittees to one overall pool of players, coaches, and contributors after Kraft, Belichick, and Williams get in.

Thanks Ken ... I forgot about Giddings Sr and Siwoff of Elias as well. I also feel if Nunn can get voted in, Wells could as well. I need to know more about Brocato, whose name sounds like it was from Rosemary's Baby ... haha. What could also hurt Wells is reporting to Don Klosterman, who has his own case, though he left KC in 1966, I believe. I still feel Don Kellett is underrated.

Siwoff got the Ralph Hay award last year, so he is pretty much eliminated. Nunn hurts the candidacies of Art Rooney Jr. and Dick Haley. Haley probably didn't do enough, but ARJ should be considered. The scouting departments at the Steelers were almost non-existent when ARJ took over. He hired people like Jack Buter, Bill Nunn, Dick Haley, etc. He built them into a legitimate scouting department. Hell, BLESTO was run out of the Steelers offices.

Brocato was a long-time scout with the Oilers/Titans. He had a tremendous impact on scouts and the scouting lifetime achievement award is named after him. He has no shot, but deserves considerations as he did more for football than many of the people on the HOF's list.

You are correct that Wells and Klosterman are probably canceling each other out because of their overlap in KC.

exactly

"Well, members of the selection committee should know who he is because they are the stewards of the Hall of Fame"
