He must have had a big influence on Dan Reeves, who was the same way with Denver (as far as not wanting to blow out anyone). But Landry never knew how to stomp on teams, wanted to outsmart everyone,
Would the Dallas Cowboys have defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in SB XVI?

Good opinions, though I think the Cowboys win. Munoz and Martin would have had a great matchup but I dont think the Bengals contain Jones and White. You have to account for Pearson, Hill and Dorsett on defense as well, which would have been alot. The Chargers I feel, could move on Dallas or SF but could they limit the turnovers, especially fumbles?

Pearson was fading by that point.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 12:44 pm Good opinions, though I think the Cowboys win. The Cowboys always got sacks with the Flex. It was great for pass rush but shit for coverage. It was ironic with Landry being an ex DB but that was always the weakest part of the team. Even if you get a few sacks good QBs always picked them apart, especially at the end.

True about Pearson, but his catch against SF should have helped win the ball game at the end, until White's fumble. He wanted a second ring bad though and I feel, would have been up against Cincy. Ross and Collinsworth would have been challenges. Thurman and Walls were slow but would jump on errant passes. I think the Bengals would have sent Isaac Curtis after Walls.

81 was the year Walls/Downs/Thurman picked off a ton of passes.Jay Z wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 2:35 pmPearson was fading by that point.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 12:44 pm Good opinions, though I think the Cowboys win. Basically their pass defense was feast or famine
