Good calls Jack ... though in Warner's case, unique doesnt necessarily mean deserving. Earl Morrall and Tommy Thompson were unique as well, and havent been elected.

Jackson and Allen can throw the ball and Jackson is the highest rated QB right now but I never looked at these guys as prolific passers like Marino or Brees. Their legs will get them into the Hall over their arms but with Allen especially, they need the championship, I feel. We will see because like Burrow, they may have to switch teams to get one. Hurts could have a future case also but is more a game manager than thrower. His legs will help his case as well with high rushing TDs but the press and fans stay on his ass in Philly. Can he win another ring without AJ Brown or even Barkley, who is getting older himself?

With Warner, what I mean by "unique" is that I don't think the things that make him Hall-worthy are present in other players. Warner is a 2x MVP, 3x conference champ, 1x champ, 1x SB MVP. His peaks were all-time peaks, including:

* in 1999, he joined Marino as the only QB with a 40-TD season
* in 2001, he had what is, I think, the third triple crown passing season in the Super Bowl era (Jurgensen '67, Marino '84)
* when he retired, his three Super Bowls were the top three passing marks in the Super Bowl

None of the bygone QBs angling for Canton have that combination of the ring, the MVPs, the championship game performances and the single-season peaks. That's what I mean by "unique": he doesn't really open the door for anyone else, except by the argument that you rank someone higher with lower peaks but more longevity.

For me there remains plenty of uncertainty regarding the PFHOF resume for Josh Allen- I think he has a lot of work ahead of him to build a case but it could be done

Agreed. Jackson is much closer in my view.

Another question is not "if", but "when": I believe that some of these names will get in, but not in the next 20 years.

Well Eli was a first-ballot finalist, and they've all gotten in. Rivers was a first-ballot semifinalist, and they've all gotten in. I think of the six, Eli, Rivers, Roethlisberger and Stafford are guaranteed. TBD Wilson. Probably not for Ryan.

I think all but Ryan will eventually get in.

Ryan could have been elected in by now. Rivers was an 8x Pro Bowler, Ryan a 4x Pro Bowler and Rivers played in the same conference as Manning,
Brady and Roethlisberger.
