I still go with Cowher. Not by much at all, but perhaps by a little more than when the above thread came about (coming off 1st-Rd loss at KC, Big Ben's last game). The simple he having more deeper playoff runs/better post-season record and only having Big Ben at the very beginning of his career.

I'm fine with Tomlin steeping down. Its was getting stake between he and the franchise. Each will win playoff games again, just not together.

A bit exciting this 'election-of-a-Pope'-like event that'll now take place with seeing who the Steelers will pick next for their HC. This is only the third time on my life that I'm experiencing this.

One thing, unlike Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin's hirings, DAN will not be present for this next filling of the vacancy! It'll be Art II in charge for this one.

Also, when should Cowher and Tomlin have each been fired in your opinion?
Tomlin should have been fired after the 2016 AFC Title loss to the Patriots, a week after his players were running their mouths.

As for Cowher, they should have chose Donahoe over him in 1999.

The problem is the ownership. Dan Rooney decided that Chuck Noll would get a lot of time to rebuild. Fair enough. The team was in a very bad way when he took over, and he went on to build the best team ever (winning four SB's).

Cowher and Tomlin never were in that league. Cowher couldn't win at home in the playoffs for years, and lost to the dog 1994 Chargers at home in the AFC Title Game. And, Tomlin didn't do anything after Cowher's leaders left. By the time they lost to the Pats in 2016, they were running the same old defensive schemes that didn't work. Julian Edelman made fun of them for it on his show:
