Youre right JWL, but Rodgers did want to comeback to the Jets.
Even with five wins, its a tough decision for a team to get rid of a QB who had 28 TD passes but Glenn wanted to go younger with Fields who played well against his former team. Still surprising how bad both defenses played but it happens with a first game.

I believe it was best for the Jets to move on. Imagine the Jets go from anywhere between 7-10 to 12-5 with Rodgers here in 2025 and with him not being the problem even if they win on the low end of that range? What then? Bring him back for 2026? They go 11-6 and lose in the first round and Rodgers retires and the Jets are further away from the top of the 1st round? Then in general Rodgers being the team leader like he was in 2023 and 2024 and the team caters to his every whim even if the long range effect is more likely than not to be detrimental? It was too tricky.

He is better off in Pittsburgh and the Jets are better off in the long run having moved on from him. I don't think either party really needs to get revenge on the other. I was annoyed with Maria Taylor and some other NFL talkers playing up the revenge angle as much as they did.

Whats interesting about this past game between the Steelers and Jets, is that the Jets failed on two, two-point conversions. Had they just kicked their extra points, maybe a different outcome?
They lost by two ...

The Bills also failed on two 2-point conversions. It didn't affect the outcome, just the final score, but if they'd kicked both extra points, the score would have been tied 40-40 after Josh Allen's TD run with just under 2 minutes to go.

There were point-chasing scenarios by the Jets and Bills. The Bills scenario is noted above.

In the Jets game, Nick Folk horribly missed an extra point kick attempt. There was a penalty on Pitt on the play. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had the option to take a 2-point try at the 2-yard line. The play call was atrocious. Braelon Allen (Tarzan body but not really a tough runner) off center to nowhere. A better choice would have been to give Justin Fields options. The Jets then went for 2 again later when the spot called for it. That was another poor choice as there was a designed pass to the corner and the receiver was covered by three defenders.

If Folk didn't miss that XP try early in the game and Glenn decided to keep the point even after the Pitt penalty, and then Folk was brought on to try an extra point kick in the 4th quarter, and if monkeys had wings...

True, but Folk is usually reliable ... he will help the Jets as the year goes along.

"Aaron Rodgers is back" are the last four words I expected to be saying after week 1 of the 2025 season, but here we are. Is he a top 10 QB ROS?
