It's semi-serious, i.e. I know it won't happen but it'd be nice to never have to watch low-effort 4th quarter football again. Not sure how you could argue *against* the idea that winning-team 4th-quarter football is easily the worst product on the field any given Sunday?

Probably because football is a game and not a Marvel movie. A stirring climax isn't built in, nor should it be. If one team has the game in hand in the fourth quarter, they've earned the right to put it in cruise control: empty the bench, give the backup QB some snaps, etc. I don't need an exciting finish to be manufactured once the competitive portion of a game is over.

Well said. There is already far too much manufactured drama in the NFL today, has been for many years.
