Aaron Rodgers with 423 yards passing in the playoff against the Cardinals. He had a few games where he threw over 400 and lost in the regular season. Fouts did also.

Of course, Chuck Howley is the most famous example.

There are probably some 60-minute guys who had exceptional games on offense and defense (and possibly kicking!) back in the day. Can anybody think of some? Sammy Baugh I would guess might have had a great game on offense, defense, and punting in a loss. And I know Night Train Lane had two interceptions and a 98-yd td reception in the same game in a loss to GB in 1955.

Bob Griese gets underrated for being known as a great game-managing type of QB, but he aired it out for the Dolphins in the Earl Campbell, Luv Ya Blue MNF game. Some people feel it was the best MNF game ever ...

Just LOOK at his STATS! Best QB-performance ever??

Perhaps Best performance-period, regardless of position!

If you throw that at all of us before the game, you REALLY think we all see Nick Foles still leading the 'Birds to Victory??

THAT'S the Majesty of those 2017 Eagles!
Heck New England had 0 punts in that game!

- Ed Podolak with 350 all purpose yards in a 27-24 double overtime loss to Miami on Dec. 25, 1971 (still an NFL playoff record):

85 yds. rushing
110 yds. receiving
155 yds. kickoff & punt returns

- O.J. Simpson rushing for a then NFL record 273 yards in a 1976 Thanksgiving Day loss at Detroit. I remember feeling bad for O.J. that he had to play on such a lousy team.

Two inspired SB efforts that I remember are Thurman Thomas and Terrell Owens in losing causes.

One random one is Joe Namath coming off the bench and completing 11 passes for 258 yards and 3 TDs but still losing to the Niners.

Don Maynard had 228 yards in the Heidi Game, which featured a two play sequence of Maynard burning Atkinson for 50 yards, and the next play Maynard burning Atkinson again for 47 yards and a TD.

Don Strock against the Chargers in 1981.

How about Dan Marino’s week six performance in 1987 vs Buffalo?

He had a passer rating of 129.7, threw four touchdowns and no picks, as well as 303 yards.

The passer rating was his sixth highest in any game, with the top five all being in wins.
