John Turney recently put some clips of Larry Craig up on his Twitter feed. Craig is a guy who, even as a lifelong Packers nut, I'd never given much thought to. But he really was a disruptive force. If he got Sammy Baugh rattled, he had to have been pretty good.

And yes, Cliff, great to have you here. Hope to read more from you. (And everyone, take some time to dig into his history section on the Packers website: https://www.packers.com/news/cliff-christl-history. You never know what you'll learn.)

The addition of Craig was beneficial for the Packers as it allowed Lambeau to move Don Hutson off the defensive line to safety. In his first four seasons in Green Bay, Hutson played end on both sides of the ball. Moving off the line midway through the ‘39 season, in Hutson’s words:

"’That was a big thing for me,’ says Hutson. ‘I mean, when we played the Bears, was I going to tackle Bronko Nagurski when he came around end?’

Assuming the question to be rhetorical, I hold my tongue.

"Hell fire!" Hutson says with a laugh. ‘He'd run right over me.’”

Hutson had 30 recorded interceptions from 1940 to 1945, leading the league in ‘40 with six and had a recorded personal best of eight in 1943 (the NFL did not keep interception stats before ‘40; the PRFA’s Bob Gill found four more during that period going through Milwaukee Journal and Milwaukee Sentinel archives (https://www.profootballresearchers.org/ ... 05-533.pdf) - has anyone - perhaps Cliff - found more complete records?).
