We can't forget Paul Hofer in 1980 against Dallas ... a bad knee injury. So he works his butt off and comes back in 1981, playing well for the 49ers, so what does "The Genius" do? He runs Hofer on a rain-soaked field against Houston with the playoffs already sown up and Hofer reinjuries the knee and never get his chance to play in the Super Bowl.
