Guess I'm happy the Colts won, because it increases the chances the Patriots don't make the Super Bowl. The Chargers or Ravens will give them more trouble than the Texans would have.

Once again all the focus goes on the QBs and it came down to the kicker in the Bears-Eagles game. Anyone know the probability of the hitting the post twice in one game??

A lot better than hitting it four times in one game which he did earlier this season. I feel bad for the guy.

No problem. I'm thrilled I wasn't tempted to drive up the Parkway and place some bets.

I was just picking for fun anytime I picked this year. No office pools at work, no Yahoo Pick 'Em group even just for bragging rights, and no betting for money which I can legally do in my state now. I went a combined 27-5 (straight up) in Weeks 15 and 16, didn't pick in Week 17, and went 0-4 on Wild Card weekend.

I bet Parkey couldn't do it again if he tried to. What a tough way to go out. I hope he does not lose his job in Chicago.

I think his run in Chicago is over. At a guess, Parkey cost the Bears about eight points over the course of the regular season compared to an average 2018 kicker according to my PAL (Points Above League) methodology. It wasn't the worst in the league, as the Bucs (-10 PAL), Browns (-11), Steelers (-14) and Vikings (-15) were all worse. I expect all five of those teams to be looking for new kickers next summer.

I did an evaluation on Parkey's 2018 season, looking at the misses to see if any of them contributed directly to a loss, other than the Eagles game. In three of the Bears four losses during the regular season, there was only one Chicago loss where he missed a FG, and that was in the 10/14 game against Miami which the Bears lost in OT. Parkey missed a 53-yard FG in OT, it looked like the problem was with the snap that wasn't the best I've ever seen, and the holder got it down as best he could. Parkey's kick was wide right by a foot or so. The 53-yard try was his longest attempt of the season, and I think 53 yards is about his maximum range. In the NFL of 2018, a range of only 53 yards isn't really good enough, as the NFL as a whole was 26-43 (60 percent) successful on field goals from 55 yards or more.

The only team I feel can stop NE is Kansas City. Chargers I don't have much faith in going up there.

Could say I feel bad for the guy but I have a hard time feeling bad for someone that gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars just to kick a ball. Could say the same about any NFL player but at least they are putting their bodies and safety on the line when they play.

Now I do feel bad for high school and college kickers when this kind of thing happens to them.
