That's a 6 year Hall of Fame run to me.
I've always been on board with the notion of Gastineau (4/5/none) as a good HoF choice, though like several other such folks, he was reportedly pretty one-dimensional. And there's no question he was roundly disliked, though that shouldn't mean anything for a HoF with no Character Clause.

Best I can tell, only Mike SIngletary and Harry Carson are in from that period who played that position. Maybe there's a reason for going skimpy at MLB/ILB from that time, but if so, I'd like to hear the rationale. And these guys seem like the best options available.
Lawrence Taylor/Andre Tippett and teams shifting to the 3-4 made OLB the glamour position for the 80's-90's. Not sure if Carson should even be in the HOF (over Gradishar no less), and Singletary was one of the only guys left playing a true MLB. His pro bowl competition was basically Ken Fanetti and Neal Olkewicz.

No question Carson is a large-hall type (profile is 2/9/none, reportedly excellent against the run if not in much other capacity). Am thinking Mecklenburg and Mills are at least comparable and perhaps better, and regardless likely better than Fanetti, Olkewicz, et al. Agreed fully that Gradishar should be in as well, though I tend to think of him as a 70s guy (he's actually straddles the 70s and 80s, kind of like Zach Thomas, who began his career in 1996 but is a 00s guy).

Going by the eyes test, with Mecklenburg I never saw enough consistent lasting greatness/dominance from him over a long enough stretch of time. Imposing his will and taking over games. He's close though and I wouldn't complain at all should he make it in. Mills was a fiery, tenacious undersized player, a great story, but his resume is even thinner than Mecklenburg's
The position just happened to be barren that decade, so being the best of what's rest doesn't immediately make it hall worthy for me.

Ed Reed, Faneca, Mawae should all be locks. Faneca was a 6x All-Pro. Hutchinson 5x All Pro- That's Hall of Fame to me. Passed the eye test as well. These guys were just outright great
Overall I look at this list and I see a bunch of Hall of Famers...and John Lynch, Richard Seymour, Edgerrin James who are all Hall of Very Good
Tony Boselli - didn't play very long but was great when he did. He's sort of borderline
and might i also add that no one offense said hey we have to play john lynch today

I predict that Gonzalez and Brandt have the sortest (although I don't agree on Gil), and that Law and Boselli will have the longest.

I have two questions regarding the enshrinment proccess as it is today:
1) All the (living and health permitting) finalists go to Atlanta, and then David Baker (PFHOF Director) knocks on the hotel door of the enshrined, and the others just are guessing, or it's staged?
2) The final voting, it's in Canton or in the Super Bowl's site, and when? That same day, or a few days earlier?

I was wondering the same thing - to be a finalist and travel to Atlanta only not to get in wouldn't be great.

Not staged, all the finalists are in same hotel,,, Baker walks around and knocks on door
Voting is in the Super Bowl city each year, the meeting is in the AM and when it breaks the voters know who the final 5 are but not who got in.
