Guess who's still in Buffalo this evening? Me. My early flight this morning that was going thru Philadelphia and transferring to Greenville/Spartanburg was delayed several times due to some sort of very bad thunderstorm in Philly this morning and was finally cancelled (a bunch of flights into and out of Philly were cancelled), and the next flight they could send me out on leaves at 6AM tomorrow morning. The airline gave me a half-price rate at the Days Inn next to the Buffalo airport and I'm stuck here all day. Guess I should have went on the stadium tour after all, even though I still would have been stuck here all day. The only good part is that at least I had enough time after my flight was cancelled to partake at the Anchor Bar at the airport before I left for the motel.
Having been to all of the biennial PFRA meetings since the 2008 meeting in Pittsburgh, I have to say this one was the best, because for once we had a very strong local PFRA community from which I learned a lot about the Bills and the history of sports in the city. The only minor gripe was the lack of air conditioning at the venue; I'm not sure how a museum keeps things in pristine condition without air conditioning. Anyway, I am already looking forward to 2020 in Canton.

It was great to finally meet you Rupert! I hope you enjoyed the dinner at Coles. You are right, our local WNY PFRA chapter is awesome. Lots of great guys who enjoy discussing the history of the sport we all love. Yeah, I have to agree with you the lack of AC in that room was kind of annoying, but other than that, the conference was excellent!

How was the convention? I'm definitely interested in hearing anything anyone has to share - favorite presentations, etc.

I heard from several members that this was the best convention yet. They loved the panel discussions with the former players/administrators and enjoyed the Icons exhibit and Resource center.TanksAndSpartans wrote:How was the convention? For those interested, a photo gallery has been added to the Members Only section of the PFRA website. Our photographer is still adding photos from Days 2 and 3, but all of Day 1 and part of Day 2 have been added.

I am biased, but I had a great time! I think we are very fortunate to have a camaraderie amongst our membership that you don't always see in similar groups. Thanks to George, Greg and Ken for all of their efforts in bringing the convention to Buffalo and for the great success it ultimately was!!
