We only got to see the last couple minutes of OT after the end of the Panthers Vikings game on CBS. The local Fox affiliate were showing the Cowboys Giants and then Eagles Rams. I hope NFL Network replays the Colts Bills game this week, I would really like to see this game in its entirety. It's been a couple years since we had a good snow game, probably not since the great snow day of 12/8/13 when the major storm that hit the entire northeast, midwest and mid-atlantic region with snow (It even snowed as far south as Atlanta) and it affected about seven or eight games on the same day.

The snowfall in the first quarter of yesterday's Colts-Bills game was especially bad, about the worse I've ever seen in a NFL game. It's amazing just how much snow was actually on the field. A few years back I compiled a list of NFL snow games. With that said I'd say yesterday's snow game was the worse I've ever seen on film.

I think the 1932 Packers-Bears game could've been worse but all I've seen of that game are grainy photos. The 1985 Buccaneers-Packers Snow Bowl was another incredible snow game. There was less snow on the field than yesterday's game but the wind was awful and it truly was a blizzard. The 2003 Dolphins-Patriots game had the most snowfall (30 inches in a 48-hour period) on a gameday/weekend, most of that was before the actual game though. Of course the 2014 Jets-Bills game had to be moved to Detroit after 60 inches of snow fell on Buffalo the week before the game.

This reminds me of the little known '48 championship story of Shivers McPherson, the Chicago Card HB who lost his way en route the line of scrimmage. His frozen corpse was found a couple days later in a snow drift 10 feet from the Cardinal bench. See the CC Vol 5 number 3 for Bob Carroll's excellent account.

We need more bad weather games, be it snow, or rain. Even better, on a natural grass field. There's something very appealing about these kind of games, the idea of both teams struggling to overcome the elements.

The 2007 Bills game in Cleveland was another fun trainwreck of a game.

Interestingly, one of the few Minnesota (Met era) games in which there was a snow-covered field was the 1968 game against the Niners. Usually, teams just dealt with brutal cold.

There's a guy who I went to high school with who works at the local Buffalo sports talk station and is the radio sideline reporter for Bills games. I asked him about the red jerseys since I figured he might be "in the know". His response.... All home teams must decide what color shirts they are wearing by July 1st. Pants can be decided later. So if the red jerseys did help Peterman and Webb, it was pure coincidence they were wearing them.

Given that the threat of snow in Buffalo in December is a no-brainer, they probably figured it couldn't hurt to don the reds.

I used to assume jersey decisions get made a few weeks before games or maybe even less than that. Then I saw something on the Texans website in a J month five or more seasons ago. There was a page that showed what uniforms the Texans would wear game-by-game during the upcoming season.

The 8-0 game during what was Clevelands last winning season. And only the 2nd winning season since they were "readmitted" to the NFL. A messy slopfest but the snow wasn't nearly as thick as it was last week
