Bears had a couple of good #6s, other than Cutler:-
HB Bill Senn (1926-31), HB/QB Gene Ronzani (1933-38 & 44-45), E Johnny Siegal (1939-43) & HB Don Kindt (1947-55).
After Kindt, the next Bears #6 was K Hans Nielsen in 1981, so it doesn't get used much.
One of the flaws in the current system is that numbers 1-9 are restricted to QB/K/Ps.

Marc Wilson (also 2 SB "wins") is at least as good as Bubby Brister.
I'm going to go with a tossup between Cutler and Wilson. Cutler for "volume of work" and Wilson for team success. Benirschke gets HM.

Warren McVea! At last, a (modern)(non-kicker) player who actually contributed to a Championship team
(while wearing #6).
Nice one!

I never liked the standalone numbers of 4, 5, and 6 for QB's. For some bizarre optical reason they just don't exude strength to me. Anything 1-3 and 7-19 I'm fine with.

What looks weird to me is when kickers and punters wear numbers in the 12-19 range.

Good God, Man!
We're football scholars... we've
got to be able to come up with someone better than that...
Where's the guy who wrote the numbers book?
I went through every team's list and that's what I came up with. Was Marc Wilson better than Bubby? I don't think so.

Brett Favre is the most obvious exception. Roman Gabriel had an excellent 1973 season wearing No. 5. Dieter Brock was a great No. 5 in the CFL and he had a good 1985 season wearing that number with the Rams.

Well, here's the list:

Cutler is rated with the highest AV by more than a factor of two, so....

I still don't like how kickers and punters can't wear the single bar (or some other goofy and unique K/P facemask) always thought it gave them personality. Morten Andersen always had the early Bradshaw era mask. Gary Anderson the single bar. Some had the Mark Duper double bar classic.
