The problem is that many of the older players played positions that don't exist in modern football.

What I have seen of Hein is behind the LOS, I saw bits of 1943 games and going by photos, looks to me like he lined up as a backer. I could be wrong, but TBH I have seen 3 full games from 1943, and I don't remember him making any plays. I do remember Blozis being all over the place in those games.

From the film I have seen of him (granted only one game in 1929. The other film was too difficult to see the players), he had his hand on the ground as a pure DE. I did not see him line up in any other position.

Funny, I was just watching film of the Giants from 1943 ... three games in fact. Hein lined up as a linebacker and he was terrific! Very mobile and very aggressive. At times he lined up as an outside backer but other times he was inside. He was more impressive on the defensive side of the ball than offense.

I guess I had my eye more on Blozis, I need to re watch and focus on Hein. I remember seeing him, but don't remember any splash plays, but also I was watching Sammy Baugh a lot, so focus there, too
