The Bills lost six games that season by five points or less. You could tell that they were on the rise. Heck, I thought that they would win the East in 1987, but I was a year off.
In Week 14, they played the 9-4 Browns tough, the third straight week the Browns had put together a so-so performance. That seemed to be a wakeup call for the Browns, who blew out the Bengals and Chargers to close out the regular season with a flourish. Of course, they came close to blowing it by almost losing to the Jets before actually losing to the Broncos.
