If our own tjtroup was posting stats, perhaps you would see:
1952 and ROOKIE STARTER hugh mcelhenny gains 343 yards on 38 carries in his first four games; week 5 he takes over the league leadership in rushing as he gains 93 yards on just 5 carries, and continues in wk 6 with 80 yards gained on 9 carries. so at the halfway point of the season he leads the league with 517 yards on just 52 carries. this is how a man EARNS the nickname "the king of the halfbacks".....
if you want to use this in the forum, go for it. in closing, thanks
He is missed and he knows it. Hopefully, they have not pushed him away for good...

Those kinds of plays were expected."

Random, but I was telling friends the other day about Don Coryell, Hugh McElhenny and Don Heinrich all playing on the same Huskies team, legends!
Also, Heinrich led his Bremerton High School team to a win (and state championship) over Ballard HS in Memorial Stadium's (Seattle) dedication game in 1947. I played a first round state playoff game at the same stadium in 2000. Always thought it was cool to know I threw passes in the same stadium as Deadeye Don.
Re: RB Todd Gurley's start as reported by media
My opening comment had nothing really to do with Gurley or his yards, more an observation about STATS, their laziness, and other media companies' willingness to take whatever is spoon fed to them and the reading/viewing audience's willingness to settle for it, the main point being any kid who knows how to click a mouse can look this stuff up nowadays.

It is always nice to know one has trod the same paths as legends.
There but for the Grace of God...

I read somewhere that the previous record for the most rushing yards in the first four starts was from BIlly Sims in 1980. I don't know if it is accurate.

The media releases that the NFL teams produce before each game are a treat for such "records".
This week, the Bears have a list of players with...
MOST GAMES WITH MORE THAN 1 SACK IN THE NFL
Since Week 7 of the 2014 Season
