Re: QB for QB trades
Feb. 1977 - Craig Morton (N.Y. Giants) for Steve Ramsey (Denver). A memorable quote from Woody Paige's 1978 book, Orange Madness (from a less than enthusiastic Giants fan): "We traded our s*** for their s***."

Re: QB for QB trades
I recall a Sport magazine story on Norm Snead and Gary Cuozzo in 1971 concerning both competing for the QB job in Minnesota. It said the Snead-Jurgensen deal was a "best for all concerned" trade.Teo wrote:1980 .- Dan Pastorini (Houston) for Ken Stabler (Oakland)

Re: QB for QB trades
Not quite a QB for QB trade, but in 1982 the Colts traded Bert Jones to the Rams for the fourth overall pick and used that pick to select Art Schlichter. It was an even trade: It didn't work out for either team.
Re: QB for QB trades
Did we leave out Layne for Morrall (and picks)?
Re: QB for QB trades
John Hadl and a package were traded for Lynn Dickey in 1976.
When Bob Lee signed as a free agent with Atlanta in 1973, Bob Berry was part of the compensation. Though technically that isn't a trade.

1967: Bills and Raiders, Daryle Lamonica (and Glenn Bass) for Tom Flores (and Art Powell), with some draft picks thrown in.
1968: Steelers and Browns, Bill Nelsen (and others) for Dick Shiner (and others)
1968: Rams and Lions, Bill Munson (and others) for Milt Plum (and others)

Norm Snead was also traded for Fran Tarkenton when Tark returned to Minnesota.
The Rams traded Billy Wade to the Bears for Zeke Bratkowski. (Between 1960 and 64, every QB to win a title had either been traded from the Rams, or was named Bart Starr.)

They also traded Zeke Bratkowski, who backed up Starr on Green Bay's three consecutive championship teams.BD Sullivan wrote:Otherwise known as Norm Van Brocklin and Frank Ryan--along with Wadeconace21 wrote:(Between 1960 and 64, every QB to win a title had either been traded from the Rams, or was named Bart Starr.)
