In 1994, through the first 14 games of the season, the Saints' longest rushing play was by their punter, Tommy Barnhardt (a 21 yarder). Mario Bates, who clearly had no sense of history, screwed that up by having a 40 yard carry in the second-last game of the season.

For 30 years, Mark Malone held or shared the Steelers franchise record for the longest pass reception TD, when he was on the receiving end of a 90-yard TD pass from Terry Bradshaw in 1981.

I always liked Mark Malone holding the Steeler record for longest reception.

in 1990 Vinny Testeverde had the longest run of the season by the Bucs, 48 yards. Next longest, I think, was 22 yards or something by a running back

My favorites are the players with 90 yard punts.
Steve O'Neal - 98 - 5 years in the league - lifetime 40.7 average
Shawn McCarthy - 93 - only 2 years in the league - 40.7 avg.
Randall Cunningham - 91 - better known as a qb - only punted 5 of 11 years - only 20 total punts - 44.7 avg
Don Chandler - 90 - best known on this list - 12 years - 43.5 avg - also placekicker last 6 years
Rodney Williams - 90 - who?? - only 1 year in league - 42.9 avg

In the years prior to 1994, when the 2-point conversion was adopted, was odd to see regular players scoring extra points. Steve Largent scored two as a holder, and Dick Butkus caught another in a botched snap.

I was at the Seahawks-Bills MNF game for one of them.Teo wrote:was odd to see regular players scoring extra points. Steve Largent scored two as a holder

....dick butkus twice caught passes for extra points('71 vs. wash & '72 vs. philly).
