I think it is much better than the original.
Charley Taylor, wide receiver;
Lance Alworth, wide receiver
If we are talking about strictly the decade of the 1960's, would it make sense to have Don Maynard over Charley Taylor?

Because Don Maynard played in the AFL in the 60s and this is (fairly or not) an NFL team?
I think the NFL/AFL team Mr. Turney posted is the better team.

I was posting in regards to the NFL/AFL team. It had Taylor and Alworth at WRs.

Charley Taylor, wide receiver;
Lance Alworth, wide receiver
John Mackey, tight end
Jim Otto, center
Jerry Kramer, guard
Billy Shaw, guard
Ron Mix, tackle
Forrest Gregg, tackle
John Unitas, quarterback
Jim Brown, fullback
Gale Sayers, halfback
Paul Hornung, halfback
Deacon Jones, defensive end
Willie Davis, defensive end
Bob Lilly, defensive tackle
Merlin Olsen, defensive tackle
Ray Nitschke, linebacker
Dick Butkus, linebacker
Bobby Bell, linebacker
Willie Brown, cornerback
Herb Adderley, cornerback
Johnny Robinson, safety
Larry Wilson, safety
Jim Bakken, kicker;
Don Chandler, punter;
Interesting that Paul Hornung is on the 1994 team in place of Jim Taylor. I wonder if the fact that Hornung was on TV so much after football (and a much more glib interviewee during their playing days) had something to do with it. Taylor was pretty much forgotten.
Paul Hornung was always extolled as a touchdown maker but Jim Taylor scored 93 touchdowns to Hornung's 62. Not to mention the difference in rushing yardage.

Hornung was a 3-time scoring leader and 2-time MVP.

I still think Taylor was a better fit on an all-60's team. I also think these teams chosen closer to the time in question are more reliable.
Just my opinion.

I think they picked Jim Brown as a fullback, and sinceTaylor was a fullback . . . Brown won out
Hornung and Sayers were halfbacks. I would have gone with just one halfback . . .Sayers, but that's me

It was a vote . . .I am sure Maynard got some votes by the committee, but Maynard is certainly qualified

If ever there was a player who timed his production almost exactly to a decade, it was Maynard and the 1960's. His production is (almost) literally twice as much as Taylor's for the decade:
Maynard's receiving stats for the 1960's = 546-10289-18.8-84 TDs
Charley Taylor's stats for the 1960's = 354-5033-14.2-42 TDs

I like this series, and do think its valuable debate. I do have some trouble with the arbitrariness of the date ranges.
