During a game, a GM goes down to the field and orders the coach to bench a player. The reason the GM is doing this is because the player is about to break a franchise record, and the GM feels like the player doesn't deserve to break the record.

Larry Johnson about to break Priest Holmes' Chiefs all time rushing record in 2009? I couldn't tell you who the GM was though off the top of my head.

The GM was Scott Pioli, who would later go on to "earn" the 1st overall draft pick due to his football acumen...but Pioli waived Johnson before he could even play in potential record-breaking game.
