... I'm sure some will consider this sacrilege, but I enjoyed the tribute aspect, and seeing Fouts, Rashad, Harrington et al just having what looks to be an awesome time. Just wanted to share ...

Re: My favorite thing Mariota did this week ...
Love it, Evan. One of my favorite movies...I was at Oregon State when they filmed the movie at U of O in Eugene. I found out later they were using locals as extras...I coulda been a contender.
I notice that the article said the original Otis Day and the Knights were in the ad, but one of the knights was bluesman Robert Cray before he was famous (used to see him at Mothers Mattress Factory in Corvallis). I did not see him in the ad.
No Chip Kelly, either.

Good stuff, Evan. Hadn't seen this yet. Movie is legendary and there's a lot of classic stuff in this video.
Glad - it was terrible at the time - Wheaton still gets his recognition for what he did with "The Pick" (I watched Huard - all 3 of them - play in HS) ... It was devastating though, came a month after UW had won in the "Whammy in Miami" ...
I played a game at Mt. Tahoma HS so I got to see Bobby Moore's jersey hanging up and such (note: Ray Horton also went to Mt. Tahoma) ... I also played my first freshman high school football game against them, at home, and both of our schools had the same nickname (Thunderbirds) so it was the only time we didn't say the nickname in our fight song "let's beat the (insert opp.) now", we said Mt. Tahoma instead of OUR team name. We won that game, naturally.
Only thing I didn't like is that they didn't refer to Joey as Joey Heisman - that campaign was ridiculous. He surprisingly was great in this video though.
I know I've mentioned it before, Oregon State. I didn't spend as much time there as John - during my time at football camp with Riley then Erickson - but my four weeks total (one week every summer) in those door rooms and those ridiculously small wooden beds was more than enough. Corvallis itself though is one of the underrated places over here, nice town.

I was surprised that I recognized Harrington immediately in the video, even with his shades on. But as the scene was playing out, I was thinking "Huh, how come Rashad isn't in this?" I didn't recognize him until he appeared in the credits. Then the "D-Day" mustache made sense. Very well done.
So of course today I was wondering if any other ensemble cast movies so tightly linked with a particular city or state could have a scene portrayed by college legends from that school. Hmm. Maybe a scene from "Ocean's Eleven" with UNLV players? Cunningham, Mike Thomas and ... uhhh, well maybe not.
I would think there would be some movie set in L.A. that could be re-loaded with UCLA players, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure the collective intelligence of The Forum could help.
Other movies that could work for Texas? Boston College? Miami? Illinois (think Chicago-based movies)?

"10 Things I Hate About You" which wasn't my thing but was popular when I was in High School was shot in Seattle and Tacoma and a lot of the scenes were done from the famed Stadium High School (one of the cooler HS stadiums in the country) ...
Lot of scenes in that movie where you could put the UW legends in and have Hope Solo or someone play the female lead, ha.
Too bad the Dawgfather is no longer with us but that's the commercial I'd do, just put the famous poster on screen for 5 minutes, all that needs to be shown.
