A terrible play call
I can't believe Seattle chose to hand the ball of to Marshawn Lynch on 4th and 1! Why didn't they throw the ball? That has be one of the worst play calls in the history of the NFL. The offensive coordinator ought to be fired.

Following in the tradition of their last meaningful game, when another poor call was MUCH more costly.
Re: A terrible play call
I actually do agree with Hines Ward, it was right to run it, but out of the shotgun? Seems that 1) the runner cannot gain the same momentum before taking the handout and 2) it takes longer the hit the line of scrimmage while the QB waits for the shotgun snap to get back to him.

Re: A terrible play call
I hope people realize my post was an ironic response to all those people who criticized the Seahawks for NOT giving the ball to Lynch with 1 yard to go for a TD in the Super Bowl.
For the record, Lynch has only made the yardage once in the last 6 times he's been given the ball with 1 yard to go.

We should keep in mind that running on the St. Louis front 7 and running on the New England front 7 are two very different things.

Re: A terrible play call
It didn't much matter what defense they were facing last season. When the Seahawks needed 1 yard, Lynch failed 80% of the time.
Re: A terrible play call
To clarify, in 2014, when the Seahawks needed 1 yard FOR A TOUCHDOWN, Lynch failed 80% of the time. But yesterday, the Seahawks needed one yard for a first down. Last season, when the Seahawks needed one yard for a first down, (not a touchdown) Lynch succeeded on 19 of his 23 carries. And he was successful in four of the first five situations yesterday. His carries went for -1, 3, 10, 12, 24.
