Postseason matchups that you would have liked to seen...
Re: Postseason matchups that you would have liked to seen...
1977 AFC Title: Dolphins at Broncos
This is how it should have been if the refs didn't screw New England out of that fumble in Week 14 in Baltimore. I believe that the Fins would have defeated the Raiders the next week at the OB.
1977 NFC Title: Redskins at Cowboys
This also could have happened if a Week 14 (Bears at Giants) game would have went differently because I believe that the Redskins would have upset the Rams. It would have given us one more Allen-Landry NFC Title matchup before George left the Redskins.

Would Allen have been pushed out if he got the team to the SB?7DnBrnc53 wrote:1977 AFC Title: Dolphins at Broncos

Jim Brown was in the NFL Championship game three times out of nine seasons. With a couple of missed field goals, he would have been in five out of nine. And this doesn't count the Browns' 1963 second place finish.BD Sullivan wrote:1958: Baltimore at ClevelandSixtiesFan wrote:1960 NFL Championship: Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns.
I mentioned 1960 because the Browns' near miss that year is forgotten.

That could have been the changing of the guard.SixtiesFan wrote:1960 NFL Championship: Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns.
I am looking at his Wikipedia page, and it said that the owner (Edward Bennett Williams) was trying to negotiate a new deal with him at the end of the 1977 season, even though there were rumors that he was starting to question Allen's philosophy.Would Allen have been pushed out if he got the team to the SB?
Allen apparently turned down a new 4-year, 1 million dollar deal, and then was dismissed. Would a SB trip change that? Maybe, if Williams would have offered him more money.
