The retraction is being retracted, in the first link anyway.

The quote from Mark Davis is interesting considering that his father and Stabler hated each others guts: "He was a cherished member of the Raider family."

Re: Uncomfirmed reports of Ken Stabler's death
I hate to hear that Ken Stabler has passed away. When I was 13, the Oakland Raiders were my favorite team. A lot of great quarterbacks of the era wore #12, and Stabler was the one I followed the most. RIP, Snake.

Hard to believe. My first memory of the Snake was his 30 yard TD run down the left sideline to give the Raiders a short lived 7-6 lead in the Immaculate Reception game. He provided many more thrilling moments in the next seven years before he was traded to the Oilers.

And the debates begin right away

Most would say the good seasons outweigh the not-so-good seasons but I wonder if he will jump to top of line for the senior list this year.

One of the better quarterbacks of the 1970's. RIP.
Re: Uncomfirmed reports of Ken Stabler's death
My first memory of him is subbing into the '72 playoff as well. That 2 minute drive was a great thrill and it's disappointed me over the years that it's largely ignored due to Franco's 4th down grab.
He epitomized Raider "cool" in the '70s. Truly was a gunslinger in cleats.
