I believe mr. luckyshow has compiled a rather extensive list of FG info at:

Stenerud held the college record at one point with a 59-yarder, and "attempted" a 113-yarder as well, thank you Mr. Grasso for your research there:

Rechichar to Dempsey
Re: Rechichar to Dempsey
Scratch this one. I incorrectly matched the attempt against the Packers schedule. Ken Pullis is correct, the 57-yard attempt was made by the Colts on 11-5-67.Citizen wrote:- 11-12-67: Lou Groze (I presume) tried from 57 against the Packers (blocked).
Re: Rechichar to Dempsey
Since field goal misses were brought back to the line of scrimmage for the opponent's new offensive series, might some of these long attempts have been used almost as a punt if the punter wasn't very good, or hurt?
I never cataloged the misses.

Groza had a rough day regardless, since his weakening kicking leg helped Travis Williams return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the first half of a 55-7 rout. After the game, Blanton Collier cited the fact that each of Groza's kicks only got to the Packer 15 and 13.Citizen wrote:Scratch this one. Re: Rechichar to Dempsey
At the time, they were very similar to a punt. A missed FG was brought back to the 20, not the line of scrimmage. A short field goal was subject to being run back or downed if it didn't make the end zone.luckyshow wrote:Since field goal misses were brought back to the line of scrimmage for the opponent's new offensive series, might some of these long attempts have been used almost as a punt if the punter wasn't very good, or hurt?

This is what a 113-yard FG looks like in the Madden 03 game:Evan wrote:I believe mr. luckyshow has compiled a rather extensive list of FG info at:

1967 was the last season for the 43 year old Groza.
