2026 NFL Season wks 5 - 8
Re: 2026 NFL Season wks 5 - 8
Teams are 6-4-2 since 1940 when completing 0 passes in a game. I didn't look at 1939 and prior because there are far too many games with 0 completed passes. The Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers had a 4-game head to head stretch in 1941 and 1942 where one of the teams did not complete a pass in three of the games.

I checked out that Redskin-Eagle game https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... 270pit.htmBrian wolf wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2026 10:18 am I knew about the Browns beating the Eagles in 1950, but that game wasnt a shutout. The last time a team win happened with 0 passing yards was Bills vs Jets in 1974, yet that wasnt a shut out either. I read where the Redskins won a game in 1955 with -3 passing yards. If I am not mistaken, the Bills-Jets game in 1974 only had two completions for the entire game, which also might be the record, at least going back to the 1920s.
-32 to 243 net passing in the Steelers favor
332 to 65 rushing in the Redskins favor
turnovers 6-1 in Washingtons favor

I’ve seen highlights of that Bills-Jets game. Was played in a gale at Rich Stadium.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2026 10:18 amI knew about the Browns beating the Eagles in 1950, but that game wasnt a shutout. Find team games with 0 passes completed and 0 points allowed. However it gave me a list of games ending n 1930 in which a lot of these games clearly had a pass completed. Game level stats are sketchy at best in the 1920s so I probably encountered a glitch on Stathead. It might require newspaper level research to "prove" the last game meeting this criteria! We have a game to dissect for historical purposes, as the Bucs win a shutout game without completing a pass? The running game was dominant, while the defense had four interceptions while allowing only 8 completions. Atlanta was so bad they couldnt even score on a 76 yrd pass play

With Brissett going to the Ravens, can he keep them in possible contention till Jackson comes back? Or will more losses keep Jackson motivated to stay out, even if/when he could play?

If he plays his best I think he can keep them a bit above,500 the rest of the way. But I don't think 9-8 is going to get anyone into the playoffs in a tough AFC. Especially that division.Brian wolf wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2026 8:07 pm With Brissett going to the Ravens, can he keep them in possible contention till Jackson comes back? Didn't like the hire from the get-go. Not surprised it's ended up like this. Glenn was the exact opposite of what this team needed after Saleh. A cocky, smug 1st time HC who was not even a good coordinator. Saleh was (and still is) a poor coach but at least he was a capable coordinatorJWL wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2026 5:37 pm The jury is in. Aaron Glenn is not a good head coach. The Jets have really ruined football for me. My posting here has gone down considerably. I didn't renew my subscription to the Association. I don't have Sunday Ticket anymore. I saw some of the plays of the Packers-Lions game but really wasn't watching it. Then I barely looked at the Chiefs-Seahawks game. The Jets caused me in recent years to have football apathy. 2024 was the real killer year. I tried to give Glenn every benefit of the doubt with the clock mismanagement in 2025 and the ineptitude of the final five games of that season. I can't anymore. You cannot be this pathetic with the clock and stand there on the sideline being all dopey about it and making yourself a fool all the time. I am pretty sure in one of these threads that I was critical of his clock mismanagement in the first half vs Tennessee. That Jets ended up pummeling that opponent so the issue was overlooked by fans that day.
24 games
5 wins
1 interception
outscored 107-6 in the final two minutes of the first halves
First order of business was rudely booting Aaron Rodgers out the door and hand picking Justin Fields. That told me all I needed to know about Aaron Glenn and how this would be.
Mougey is a good GM and with a mediocre HC this team is probably 4-4. Glenn is dragging this team down

Glenn may not have had any say in that. Rodgers had made a comment about one of Woodrow's sons. I think Rodgers may have effectively been finished with the Jets even before Glenn was hired. The Jets would probably be 5-3 right now with Mike McCarthy and Rodgers.sheajets wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2026 12:11 pmDidn't like the hire from the get-go. Not surprised it's ended up like this. Yea, perhaps that was Woody speaking through Glenn there. Just don't like the way the whole thing was handledJWL wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2026 4:42 pmGlenn may not have had any say in that. And McCarthy wanted to come here back when we had Darnold to work with Sam. that was a few cycles ago...and we bungled that

Re: 2026 NFL Season wks 5 - 8
I will admit, the Jets could easily be 4-4 but it doesnt help having Hall and Cooper hurt, though Allen is finally playing to his potential. Smith has protected the ball pretty well but still takes too many sacks but I still feel this team can win 6-7 games if they can get on a streak ... if not, it might be over for Glenn, eapecially if Tomlin felt interested in the job? I feel Tomlin could go to TB or GB as well.

The Jets job is not high on Tomlins list (if he's interested at all) and who knows he may not want to coach period at least for a few yearsBrian wolf wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2026 5:38 pm I will admit, the Jets could easily be 4-4 but it doesnt help having Hall and Cooper hurt, though Allen is finally playing to his potential. I would go all in on McDermott. He's someone I feel can stabilize the organization.
