2026 NFL Season wks 5 - 8
It still baffles me that a Bears team with a backup QB in Tyson Bagent, will be favored over the Green Bay Packers with Julian Love today? Have the Packers really fell this much? With Mike Ditka's passing, the Bears will be even more motivated to win.
Can the Texans and Chargers finally get a win? Its doubtful either team makes the playoffs regardless. I am hoping the Texans get Marvin Harrison Jr in a trade from Arizona. He seems to have lost his desire to play for them and maybe a change of scenery can unleash his potential?
Alot of struggles for predicted contending teams in Philly, LA, NE, Den and Detroit but its still early. Dallas and Cincy are trying to find their footing as well after the Cowboys lose to the Bucs with an unheralded, rookie QB to start week 5.
Under thrown balls will continue to be emphasized by QBs wanting to draw easy pass interference calls against defenses. We will also continue to see offensive linemen getting away with false starts as well. Defenders continue to have to worry about being fined for any sort of tackle or hit, so hopefully the teams, or "boosters" will try to have their back with their instincts more jeopardized.

Packers win a big division game, so I guess the fire LaFleur chants can wait awhile. Can this team rally around Parsons when he comes back? Could they add a major RB before the trade deadline?
Crazy ending to what should have been a Philly win. With the Texans winning easily, could they still go after Harrison Jr?
For the Titans, is it time to sit Ward and see what Biscuit can do?
Strange clock management at the end of the Giants-Commanders tie game ... Giants had a chance to win it but seemed to have deja-vu from The Miracle In The Meadowlands game, where once again they fumble it, giving the Commanders another chance. Of course the Washington team forgets to SPIKE the ball to set up the winning kick as they let the clock run out. What was Daniels thinking?
Huge early season win as the Niners join Minny at 5-0.

Chargers now 0-5????? Man is that franchise cursed! Jim has been a winner everywhere he's gone! I'd think by now, beginning of 'Year 3', the train would start rolling now if not having started rolling already; perhaps ‘Year One’ as the case in Jim’s first year in San Fran, 2011!
Maybe I'm wrong to think this, but blowing-up the Chargers upon Jim's hiring may have been in order. Perhaps a Justin Herbert trade?
You simply get the feeling those back-to-back non-division-winning 11-6 one-and-dones to start things off are as good as it's going to get in this new, perhaps brief, regime.
Will Harbaugh’s time in LA signal the end of his winning days as John Fox’s final stand in Chi-town signaled the end of his?

Harbaugh with the Chargers is feeling the heat but his players just cant stay healthy. Especially on the offensive line where he wants to run the ball but cant. They wont get rid of Herbert but the defense has regressed without Minter.
Mike Florio sure wishes he could be a GM ... it gets comical listening to his bashing of head coaches, thinking they will get fired instantly. You would have thought he betted on the Wash-NY game yesterday the way he kept going on PFT?
Surprised me that the Chiefs had such an early bye week. Why not bye weeks from wk 10 onward, when teams really need it?

I’m a believer that bye weeks should be more condensed in and around the middle of the season. How about each of the four weeks from #8-thru-11 have eight teams take off and then all out the way?
Yes, that means just twelve games those weeks instead of the full 16 slate. I think we’ll all survive for once upon a time there were only twelve teams in the entire league!
And not outrageously long ago, just fourteen games a week every week.

And play the Thursday Night games after a bye week. The bye week is usually division so the Thursday Night game, often enough would be division rivals.74_75_78_79_ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 6:25 pm I’m a believer that bye weeks should be more condensed in and around the middle of the season. Also I miss the "grouped by division" bye weeks that they did long ago. But I understand why they were done away with. If the Bills are one bye and the other AFC East teams aren't, then there are 3 other b games that Buffalo fans have rooting against interest rather than disconnecting from the NFL for the weekend.Reaser wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2026 1:20 pmAlways been my thought, as well.74_75_78_79_ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2026 6:25 pm I’m a believer that bye weeks should be more condensed in and around the middle of the season. Two-point conversions, or lack-there-of, continue to dominate recent games. There were alot, which I havent been able to track yet, but they had repercussions on final scores.
I get it, the odds of running a successful conversion from the two yard line seem to be high percentage wise, but then why do teams fail so much? Why cant teams execute more pct wise? You would think they could just simply push their QB or RB into the endzone but alot of times it becomes a failed pass attempt. You have a kicker, let him kick the ball until a team actually NEEDS the two-point conversion?

The media loves to criticize the Broncos or Bo Nix but they keep on winning and now Darnold is back to having too many turnovers for the Seahawks. Nix didnt play well but also didnt turn it over.
