Played that game a ton when I was 12 ... loved it! We used to keep stats, too.

I played APBA for many years. I remember buying every season from 1957 to 1977, with nearly all of the early (57-69) seasons being bought in the early '70s from guys advertising in the APBA Journal. My buddy and I played hundreds of games, completed a couple of seasons and kept all the stats. I played solo and completed a couple more seasons, but it's more fun playing against someone. Haven't touched the game in 15-20 years, and my buddy has since died, so it's just a fond memory now.

And for the record, the Browns won in '57 and '60 while Colts won in '58-59 but were denied a 3-peat when GB beat them in a playoff in '60.

The seasons stats were very realistic (assuming you didn't run Jim Brown 40 times a game) but I have to laugh. In real life the Lions destroyed the Browns in the title game, 59-14. Our dice replay had the the same two teams meet for the championship, and I (tossing the dice for Cleveland) beat my Buddy (world's greatest Lions fan) 21-0. So APBA was only 59 points off in that particular instance.
